On Saturday 24th March, the EKF held a Kata and Kumite Referee course at Bramcote Hill College in Nottingham. The BKA had five representatives including BKA Chief Referee Peter Bibby who took the group through the Shotokan section of the Shitei Kata training. The other four BKA representatives were taking theory examinations in an attempt to gain EKF Qualifications. The results were as follows:-

Geoff Dixon
Kumite 99% (Provisional Judge B)
Kata 94% (Provisional Judge B)

Alison Hinds
Kata 94% (Provisional Judge B)

Gemma Holland
Kumite 80% (Provisional Judge B)
Kata 94% (Provisional Judge B)

Robert Lambe
Kumite (Provisional Judge A)

After passing stage one of the assessments, the final stage of the assessment will take place at the EKF National Championships in Sheffield on April 21st/22nd. If successful, the BKA will then have 5 English Qualified tournament officials. A fantastic set of results for the BKA.

Regards,
Peter Bibby

PLEASE NOTE: Referee course 19th November cancelled- DOES NOT AFFECT SQUAD TRAINING ON 19TH NOVEMBER WHICH WILL STILL GO AHEAD.

At the recent WKF World Junior & Cadet Championships in Malaysia, WKF Congress Approved a new set of Competition Rules which will come into force in 2012. Until I have had chance to go through these amendments with E.K.F. Chief Referee Dale Gamble, there doesn’t seem much point in holding a Referee course on the current rules. Because of this, the B.K.A. Referee Course which was scheduled to be held alongside the B.K.A. Squad Session on November 19th will be cancelled. However, the B.K.A. Squad Session will run as planned.

As soon as I have had chance to go through these new rules in great detail with Dale, I will schedule a B.K.A. Referee Course in the New Year.

VENUE: ROTHWELL, KETTERING,
NORTHANTS
SATURDAY 19th NOVEMBER 2011
FREE REFEREE COURSES WILL RUN ALONG SIDE THE SQUAD SESSIONS.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE TRAINING PLEASE CONTACT
BRIAN HOLLAND (Squad training) 01536 481526 – email hollandbrn@ aol.com
PETER BIBBY (Referee training) 07835 558424 – info@redsunkarate.com
Please see attached details of BKA Referee Program
OPEN TO JUNIOR AND SENIOR BKA MEMBERS

Please bring clean white Gi together with training t-shirt and EKF style sparring equipment.
Refreshment i.e. bottled water for breaks would be good. £5.00 Training fee, which goes towards
squad costs. Times: 12noon – 3pm. For more information please contact Brian Holland
